In the past, elephants were regarded as sacred animals and symbols of power. Kings and high-ranking nobles often kept white elephants as a sign of prestige and good fortune. Elephants were also used in warfare, serving both as mounts and as vital forces in battle. Many legends tell of the bravery of these “war elephants,” which helped Thai armies defend the kingdom’s independence on numerous occasions.

How to Get to Ayutthaya

  • Private Car: Take Phahonyothin Road or the Asian Highway (Highway 32).

  • Bus: Depart from Mo Chit 2 buses run throughout the day. You can use Chai Nat Tour bus service for a more convenient journey.

  • Train: Depart from Bang Sue Grand Station or Hua Lamphong Station to Ayutthaya Station.

  • Van Service: Available from Victory Monument and Future Park Rangsit.

  • Chao Phraya River Cruise: Ideal for travelers who want to enjoy the riverside scenery.

(Motorcycles and bicycles are also available for rent to explore Ayutthaya city.)

  • Serves ordinary trains, express trains, and suburban trains (Northern–Northeastern lines) daily.

  • Ticket counters are generally open from 05:00 – 22:00.


Tips Before Traveling to Ayutthaya
